From 2022 to January 2O23 we held our 2nd Back to school campaign since we had just come out of COVID period, and Motherly Heart Foundation reached some unprecedented milestones.
The Back to School mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies to children in need. We brought free school supplies to 600 children covering 3 community schools in the less privileged communities of Karamoja, and these supplies included Books, Pens, Pencils, Mathematical sets, Sanitary pads for teenage girls, chalkboards, Manila papers etc. Last year alone we delivered free school supplies to 1200 beneficiaries through Motherly Heart Foundation back to school education program. We also donate teaching materials to the schools.
Motherly heart foundation monitoring and evaluation team always follow up on the progress and the performance of beneficiaries of the back to school campaign, and we have registered a tremendous improvement in the reduction of school dropouts plus an increase in school enrollment. According to the school reports, 97% of children graduated to the next level, and this was because of Motherly Heart Foundation efforts of equipping school going children with necessary learning materials. Thanks to generous people who always support this program, and our target is to reach 5000 students in total this year. The Back to School project is one of many ways that Motherly Heart Foundation is providing relief to families worried about the extra expense, and joy to children as they prepare for a great year ahead.
We continue to seek for Partnerships with Donors and organizations dedicated to making a difference in the educational sphere. While we ,as an organization, have learned every step of the way, we still have much learning to do. Motherly Heart Foundation will continue championing Education for students in need and make it a priority to establish equality in the classroom, in order to challenge the income disparities children face to improve educational opportunities and academic outcomes.
Why the Motherly Heart Foundation Back to School Program is Every Academic Term?
In Uganda, an academic year is made of three terms, each term lasting 3 months, due to inadequate funds and the number of children we need to help,all we can do is to provide the learning materials that can help a child for one or two academic terms.
Our aim is to see this program grow and being able to provide supplies that can take a child for at least one full year and beyond.
