At Motherly Heart Foundation we acknowledge that gender equality requires equal enjoyment by women and men of socially valued goods, opportunities, resources and rewards. When you have women or men who are left out of or mistreated by their societies, those societies are less stable, insecure, less democratic. Gender based violence hinders the ability of individuals to participate fully in to their families and communities- economically, socially and politically.
At Motherly heart foundation, we believe that access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is paramount for children in schools, particularly for girls as well as children with disabilities. Contaminated water, poor sanitation or unhealthy hygiene practices increases the risk of contracting diarrhoeal and other WASH related diseases leading to school dropouts.This is a big challenge for girls especially those who are menstruating.

“This year has been a transformative one for Kaleburo Primary School, thanks to the heartfelt generosity of Motherly Heart Foundation. For many of our students, basic necessities like books, pens, rulers and shoes have always been a luxury rather than a given. When the foundation donated scholastic materials, pads, clothes, and shoes, the impact was immediate and profound. Students who previously came to school barefoot now walk confidently in sturdy shoes. The joy on their faces when they received brand-new books and pens was indescribable.
One particular student,patricia, who often borrowed books from friends, now has her own materials to study with, and her performance has improved remarkably. The clothes have not only boosted their confidence but also created a sense of belonging and pride in being part of this school. I cannot express enough gratitude to Motherly Heart Foundation for their dedication to uplifting these young learners. You have planted seeds of hope and opportunity that will flourish for years to come.
At Tapac community primary School, the challenges many of our students face daily go beyond the classroom. Many come from underprivileged homes where even essentials like clothes, shoes, and books are hard to come by. The intervention by Motherly Heart Foundation was nothing short of a blessing. Their donation of scholastic materials, sanitary pads, clothes, and shoes has given our students not just tools for education but also a renewed sense of dignity and purpose.
I remember one young boy John who had been walking to school in worn-out sandals. When he received a pair of shoes and a set of clothes, his eyes lit up with joy. His attendance has since improved, and he now participates actively in class. For many girls in our school, the provision of pads was life-changing. They no longer miss school during their menstrual cycles, which has greatly improved their academic progress and confidence
