WATER, SANITATION & HYGIENE

Motherly Heart Foundation WASH work in schools involves the Construction, provision and implementation of drinking water, hand wash and toilet facilities. It also entails the training of community people from schools and health institutions who Forster sanitation and hygiene programmes to enhance behavioural change.

At Motherly heart foundation, we believe that access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is paramount for children in schools, particularly for girls as well as children with disabilities. Contaminated water, poor sanitation or unhealthy hygiene practices increases the risk of contracting diarrhoeal and other WASH related diseases leading to school dropouts.This is a big challenge for girls especially those who are menstruating.

Motherly Heart Foundation WASH Team ensures the following;

  • Safe drinking Water is adequate in schools, clean school water facilities, and implement a safe system of water collection, storage and distribution containers.
  • Ensure schools have Latrines, with water and soap, garbage bins with lids especially the girls toilets.
  • the school has where to dispose off the garbage

Therefore through your Partnership and donations, our team have designed several programs to forster the implementation and cover a wide coverage as well as creating an impact in the schools and the community; for example

  • Enhance the WASH infrastructure in schools by constructing and renovating water supply facilities, sanitation facilities, hand wash stations and waste management
  • develop and implement comprehensive WASH programs to educate students, teachers and parents about the importance of hygiene practices, proper sanitation and safe water
  • promote behavioural change among students and the wider school community through awareness campaigns, training sessions and interactive educational activities.
  • ensuring sustainable management and maintenance of WASH infrastructure and programs in schools through capacity building initiatives and stakeholders
  • conduct training sessions for school staff and relevant stakeholders on the operation and maintenance of WASH infrastructure.

Motherly Heart Foundation aims to improve WASH infrastructure that will promote a healthy and conducive learning environment that will positively impact the wellbeing and academic peer for acne of students. We look forward to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement this project effectively and create sustainable WASH practices in schools.
